The Itinerary

Day01

Arrival day in San Jose

Arrive any time — a Two Wheel Epix team member meets you at SJO with a sign. Transfer to the hotel, build your bike, and meet the rest of the group.

Arenal volcano rising above green farmland
Day02

Intro to the Costa Rican MTB community

Adventure Bike Park, one of the three hubs that shaped Costa Rican mountain biking — 3–5 km descents through roots, rocks and tropical soil. 15 mi / 24 km and 6,000 ft of descent, riding with local Ticos, then a traditional Costa Rican dinner.

Day03

Travel to Providencia — Costa Rica's MTB mecca

A three-hour drive into the rural mountain towns above the farmland, then straight into laps at Senderos Retana. Steep, rooty and flowy, all fanning out from a singletrack section called Bermy's — 15 mi / 24 km and 6,000 ft down.

Day04

Provi trails all day long

Wake up at the base of the trails. Stretch, then a full day of flowy, technical and high-speed descents with a long lunch in the middle — 15 mi / 24 km and 6,000 ft of descent.

Day05

Unlock some of the world's best trails

A final full day on Senderos Retana with more confidence and more flow — steep descents, technical sections and loamy singletrack. 15 mi / 24 km and 6,000 ft down.

Day06

Rest day and head to the beach

Nearly 25,000 ft of descent in four days is enough. A three-hour drive to Beach Camp Rafiki on the coast — pool, open-air restaurant, surf van, and jungle full of monkeys, sloths and toucans.

Day07

Beach life

Surfing, a natural reserve, a remote beach, or nothing at all. Options are set with your guide the day before; lunch at 1pm at the camp or packed for the beach.

Day08

Beach day and a jungle night hike

One more full day on the coast, then at 5pm into the jungle for the Rafiki Safari Lodge — 50,000 acres of protected reserve on the Savegre River. Sunset, a dip in the lake, dinner, and a night hike as the jungle wakes up.

Day09

Buen Camino bike park — victory laps

A 2.5-hour drive to Buen Camino for the last riding day: smaller descents, jumps, berms, drops and flow, set in the heart of the jungle. 15 mi / 24 km and 6,000 ft down, then wash and pack the bikes by the pool.
